Blackhawks hit training camp as Cup favorites

With NHL training camps underway and the start of the regular season fast approaching the defending-champion Chicago Blackhawks have taken over sole possession of top spot on the odds to win the Stanley Cup.

The Pittsburgh Penguins sat as the 13/2 favorites ahead of the 15/2 Blackhawks on the Stanley Cup odds at Bodog earlier in the summer, but Chicago is now at 6/1 on that list, with Pittsburgh a step behind them at 15/2 on the updated futures.

The Boston Bruins are then pegged as the 10/1 third-favorites on the odds to win the Stanley Cup, with the Los Angeles Kings and St. Louis Blues both sitting at 12/1, and the Detroit Red Wings and Vancouver Canucks rounding out the top tier of contenders at 16/1.

The San Jose Sharks head into the NHL season at 18/1 at Bodog on the Stanley Cup futures, putting them ahead of the Minnesota Wild and New York Rangers – who both hold down 20/1 odds right now. The Anaheim Ducks, Edmonton Oilers, Ottawa Senators, and Philadelphia Flyers all sit at 22/1.

The Toronto Maple Leafs, who finally returned to the playoffs last season, are tied with Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals at 25/1 on the odds to win the Stanley Cup, with the Montreal Canadiens at 28/1, the New York Islanders at 33/1, and each of the Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Dallas Stars at 40/1.

The New Jersey Devils will feature a goaltending tandem of Martin Brodeur and Cory Schneider this season, and they’re sitting with the Nashville Predators, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Winnipeg Jets at 50/1 on the Stanley Cup odds at Bodog.
