The Montreal Canadiens have some company atop the Stanley Cup futures at Bodog. Since last week the Canadiens’ odds have actually improved as they jumped from +900 to +750. However, the Dallas Stars made an even bigger jump from +1000 to +750 to join them at the top.
When Montreal lost goalie Carey Price to a lower body injury it was expected that the Canadiens’ early season success run might stop or at least slow down. Enter Mike Condon, who has admirably filled in for the Vezina Trophy winner with a 6-0-1 record and a 1.57 goals-against average.
The Dallas Stars continue to roll behind Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn. The dynamic duo are putting up points at a blistering pace and defenseman John Klingberg has also been on fire to start the season. Benn is tied for the league lead in goals with 10, Seguin has a league-high 23 points, while Klingberg is the top scoring defenseman with 15 points in 15 games.
If you didn’t place a futures wager on the Anaheim Ducks last week you may have missed your shot at the best odds. After a horrid start to the season Anaheim was a +2200 underdog to claim the Cup this season. The Ducks are getting back on track with four straight wins which has propelled them up the odds list to +1000.
Ryan Getzlaf returned from an appendectomy last week and has been on fire with four points in two games. That appendix must have been weighing him down.
One other team that is heading up the odds list are the New York Rangers. The Rangers made a modest gain up to +900 from +1000 after a five-game win streak. New York appears to be hitting their stride after a bit of a slow start to the season and are another team that bettors may have missed out on cashing in on more profitable odds.
