The Chicago Blackhawks couldn’t advance past the NHL’s Western Conference final this spring, losing in seven games to the eventual-champion Los Angeles Kings. However, the sportsbooks have still opened the Hawks as the favorites on the odds to win the 2015 Stanley Cup.
At Bodog the Blackhawks are pegged as the 15/2 favorites on the 2015 Stanley Cup odds, putting them just ahead of the Boston Bruins (8/1) and the Pittsburgh Penguins (9/1). Boston and Pittsburgh both lost in the second round of the playoffs this past spring, failing to make the Eastern Conference final.
The Kings are then tied with the St. Louis Blues at 10/1 on the 2015 Stanley Cup odds, with Los Angeles finishing off the New York Rangers in five games in the Stanley Cup final this spring and St. Louis losing in the first round of the playoffs to the Blackhawks in six games.
The Anaheim Ducks (14/1), San Jose Sharks (14/1), Colorado Avalanche (18/1), Minnesota Wild (18/1), and Rangers (18/1) round out the top third of 2015 Stanley Cup contenders at the sportsbook.
The Montreal Canadiens, who lost to the Rangers in six games in the Eastern Conference final this spring, are then tied with the Vancouver Canucks as the top Canadian teams on the 2015 Stanley Cup odds at Bodog at 25/1, putting them just behind the 22/1 Detroit Red Wings on those opening lines.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are also pegged at 25/1 on those futures, with the Philadelphia Flyers at 28/1, and each of the Dallas Stars, Washington Capitals, and Toronto Maple Leafs at 33/1. The Columbus Blue Jackets and the New Jersey Devils hold down a line of 40/1 on the odds to win the 2015 Stanley Cup.
The Edmonton Oilers, Ottawa Senators, and Winnipeg Jets then open up the bottom tier of championship contenders for next season at 50/1 odds, which ties them with the Carolina Hurricanes and the Phoenix Coyotes. The Calgary Flames, Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators, and New York Islanders are all listed at 66/1 on that Bodog opening line.
The Buffalo Sabres are the longshot on the odds to win the 2015 Stanley Cup; they’re listed at 75/1.
