Penguins atop opening 2014 Stanley Cup odds

Regrouping from an upset in the Eastern Conference final, the Pittsburgh Penguins will enter the NHL’s offseason as the favorites on the odds to win the Stanley Cup in 2014.

Despite being swept by the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference final this spring Sidney Crosby and company still enter the summer as the 13/2 favorites on the odds to win the 2014 Stanley Cup at Bodog.

That even puts them ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks, who dispatched the Bruins in six games in the Stanley Cup final. The Blackhawks are the second-favorite at 15/2 odds at Bodog, with the Bruins third at 9/1 on those opening NHL futures.

The St. Louis Blues are then at 12/1 on that list, with both the Los Angeles Kings and the Vancouver Canucks at 14/1, and each of the Detroit Red Wings, San Jose Sharks, and New York Rangers at 16/1. The Anaheim Ducks sit at 20/1 on those odds.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Washington Capitals both sit at 25/1 on the opening Stanley Cup odds for 2014 at Bodog, while the Montreal Canadiens are listed at 28/1 on those futures. The Florida Panthers are the longshot on the chart at 100/1 odds.
