Stanley Cup Betting: Penguins alone atop the odds

Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins are alone atop the odds to win the 2015 Stanley Cup at the online sportsbooks heading into the month of December, pushing Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks to second on that NHL futures list two months into the 2014/15 NHL season.

The latest odds to win the Stanley Cup at Bodog have the Penguins set as the 7/1 favorites and the Blackhawks a step behind them at 15/2 odds. Pittsburgh has gone 16-5-2 over its first 23 games this season, with Chicago boasting a record of 15-8-1 through its first 24 outings.

The Anaheim Ducks are then at 9/1 on the latest Stanley Cup odds at Bodog, with the Boston Bruins at 10/1, and both the St. Louis Blues and the Los Angeles Kings at 11/1. The defending-champion Kings are in the middle of the Western Conference at 12-7-5 through 24 games so far this season.

The Tampa Bay Lightning then sit at 12/1 on those updated NHL futures, with the Montreal Canadiens and the Vancouver Canucks the first Canadian teams to show up on the list at 16/1 odds – which has them in a tie with the Minnesota Wild. Montreal has started the season 16-7-2 through 25 games, with Vancouver at 16-7-1 through 24 contests.

The New York Islanders, somewhat surprising at 17-7-0 through 24 games this season, have moved up to 20/1 on the 2015 Stanley Cup odds at Bodog, which has them tied with the rival New York Rangers and the San Jose Sharks. The Detroit Red Wings and the Nashville Predators, another mover at 16-5-2 through 23 games, sit at 22/1 odds.

Rounding out the Canadian clubs, the Calgary Flames and the Toronto Maple Leafs are both holding down lines of 40/1 on those NHL futures, with the Ottawa Senators and the Winnipeg Jets at 66/1. The Edmonton Oilers are at the bottom of the updated Stanley Cup betting lines at 300/1.
